What are some 4x4 or awd (used) vehicles I should look for that are decent on gas?
It snows where I live and though they do plow the roads it still isn't safe to drive without chains/studded tires most of the time. I'd like a 4x4 or awd smallish suv or crossover (or even car?) that would be okay on gas. Any suggestions?
subaru its all wheel drive and great for the weather you need it for with the good gas mileage have several friends who own them and swear by them. i myself own gmc pick up but the mileage is not what i think you want

I need a used 4x4 for a secondary vehicle, any suggestions or tip on what to look for?
Have a Honda that sucks in the snow and need a 4x4 for a secondary vehicle. Any suggestions or tips on shopping for a used SUV or recommended makes or models
If you mean "secondary vehicle" only because the Honda won't go in snow, try some good snow tires and don't waste the $ on a second vehicle. Tell tire shop you want the tallest, narrowest snow tires that will fit the Honda and get them studded if your state allows that. The narrow tall snow tire cuts through snow and does not plow it forward like wider tires. Also get the snows on their own wheels. That will run you an extra 4 X $45 = $180. But you get that back in 18 months because the tire shop will do the seasonal change on mounted tires for free instead of charging you $60 a turn around. Then use one of the off set as your spare and get rid of the toy tire in the trunk. The snow tires don't cost anything either because one set of snows and one set of summers goes the same distance as two sets of summers. If you mean "secondary vehicle" regardless, look at Subaru with AWD. More to the point, ask any Subaru owner if snow was ever a problem for them.
Should a special "roads tax" be imposed on drivers of 4X4 vehicles using our roads?
I think everyone can agree that these drivers/road users make a nuisance of themselves and have in escense become the new "BMW Road Pigs", that and the fact that these vehicles are not enviromentally friendly and use excessive amounts of fuel continually polluting the enviroment?
How often have you seen them taking up 2 parking spaces in parking lots as well?
Possibly a 300% registartion fee on renewal of the vehicles licence?
You are jealous. It seems you have problems with BMW and 4x4s. Unfortunately, I don't have and never had a 4x4 - but I drive a BM. And we are not road pigs. Ja, I just wanted to find a way of saying you are jealous in defence of the BMW. Yes, it could be a wise idea that the guys with these road pigs (4x4s) should be levied more. They could argue that they are laready paying more for fuel. But this one would be for pain and suffering inflicted on road infrastructure and other road users!
